The Netherlands Ambassador in Egypt is Laurens Westhoff. He has been in the country since 3 August, 2016.
“I feel privileged to be working in Egypt, a country whose rich history and culture have fascinated me for years. The Netherlands is keen to be a partner of Egypt. I believe we have a lot to offer. We cooperate with Egypt in different fields, prominent among them is agriculture, and more particularly greenhouses and water management to strengthen Egypt’s food security. Dutch companies also dredged the New Suez Canal, are partners in the oil industry, locally produce consumer goods, and provide technical advice. I would like to broaden and intensify our cooperation, also in areas of migration and counter-terrorism where we share similar goals. Last but not least, I hope to contribute to the growing understanding between Egyptians and the Dutch, as we both strive for having free, informed and prosperous societies that are based on the rule of law and the respect for human rights.” –Laurens Westhoff
