22 Advisory referendum – reaction Dutch government

On 6 April 2016 an advisory referendum was held in the Netherlands on the EU-association agreement with Ukraine. The preliminary outcome shows that the required threshold for a valid outcome of a turn-out of 30% or more was reached, with a clear majority for the people who voted against.

24 Brussels attacks: Netherlands stands side by side with Belgium

Following a number of attacks in Brussels on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders have been in contact with their Belgian colleagues. Both sent their condolences, expressed the Netherlands’ solidarity with Belgium and offered practical support.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Egypt, Gerard Steeghs attended the official inauguration of the Dutch section of the Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) on February 16.

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt supports the Zeytun Academic and Cultural Exchange between the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Cairo University.

On the 16th of January 2016 the Minister of Trade and Industry issued decree No. 43 on Rules Regulating the Registration of Factories and Trade-marks Qualified to Export thereof to Arab Republic of Egypt.

29 Travellers can reach foreign ministry 24/7 at +31 247 247 247

Foreign minister Bert Koenders and travel expert Floortje Dessing have launched a new central helpline for travellers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can now be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week at +31 247 247 247 for practical travel tips and assistance. Travellers abroad can also contact the Ministry online and via Twitter. It is estimated that about 3,000 people per day will use the new services.

30 European Commission to visit Amsterdam

The European Commission is visiting Amsterdam to mark the start of the Dutch Presidency of the EU Council. On 7 January 2016 Prime Minister Mark Rutte will receive the members of the European Commission at the National Maritime Museum.
