Orange Bike Day 2016
On Friday 18 November 2016, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt will organize the 5th annual Orange Bike Day. This year’s event focuses on sustainability and sustainable business, and goes with the slogan: Orange is the new Green.
The Netherlands is known worldwide as a pioneer in the integration of cycling as a low-cost alternative in urban transport, so reducing car traffic and pollution within cities.
By organising this cycling event, the Embassy continues its efforts to promote the potential of bicycles as a clean, healthy and efficient alternative means of transportation in urban environments.
The Embassy started the Orange Bike Day in Egypt back in 2012 with around 400 participants. Since then it has been organized annually, with participation growing every year so that more than 3,000 cyclists participated in Orange Bike Day 2015.
Together with E7gezly, Dutch companies Farm Frites, Frico, Unilever and Fayrouz are the main sponsors of Orange Bike Day 2016. The event is organized with the support of Egypt’s Global Biking Initiative and Abou El Goukh.
