General Information
The Netherlands is part of the Schengen territory which includes Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
A Schengen visa is a document that allows the applicant to travel to the Schengen territory. However, it does not automatically give the applicant the right to enter the Schengen territory. Border Control Officers may still ask the applicant to provide information or supporting documents concerning financial means, length of stay and the purpose of the visit in addition to a valid passport and visa.
Some of the Schengen countries mentioned above require information about visa applications of Egyptian passportholders. In general, a visa application will be processed within 12 days. In some cases the Embassy has to forward the visa application to the competent authorities in the Netherlands for a final decision. In this case, it can take between 12 days up to two months before the visa can be issued.
