Project: Promoting the Culture of the Prohibition of Torture in Modern Egyptian Society
Dr Boutros Boutros Ghali from the National Council for Human Rights, Peter Hellmers from the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims and Susan Blankhart from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands decided to cooperate in the project entitled ‘Promoting the Culture of the Prohibition of Torture in Modern Egyptian Society through Strenthening the Capacity and Role of the National Council for Human Rights and Civil Society Organisations’.
The International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT) will train and support staff of the National Council for Human Rights in documentation of torture cases and increasing awareness about the issue of torture and the rights of torture victims.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands supports the abovementioned project financially through the IRCT. The project will run from July 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010.
